Gallery: Luang Prabang, Laos

Luang Prabang is a city which feels more like a small town – in a good way! The vibe is very slow-paced and relaxing with lots of cool cafes and restaurants to pass the time in. It’s a wonderful place to chill out, surrounded by beautiful hills and greenery.

That’s not to say there isn’t much to do here. There are plenty of sights and activities to keep you busy, from hiking up Mount Phou Si to bathing elephants in the Nam Khan river or swimming in crystal clear pools next to picture perfect waterfalls. Luang Prabang is also famous for its daily alms giving ceremony, where monks walk through the streets early in the morning to collect alms from locals. There are numerous Buddhist temples and monasteries.

The night market in Luang Prabang is excellent, and was my personal favourite market throughout South-East Asia, because it’s so calm and everything is laid out so meticulously. It’s the most stress-free market experience I’ve ever had. I suggest you check it out if you’re in the mood for shopping.
