Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Serendipity Beach, Sihanoukville

The beaches of Sihanoukville make for a welcome change from the buzzing cities further north. This was my last stop in Cambodia before crossing the border into Vietnam, and I really enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere here.

There are several beaches along the coastline, but Serendipity Beach is probably the most popular. During the day you can sunbathe, take a dip in the ocean and enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants lining the beach. As the sun goes down, the sand is covered with comfy chairs and tables so you can sip a cocktail while you watch the sun set.

Sihanoukville is a gateway to many small islands dotted around the mainland. So if you’re looking for a more remote beach, you can hop on a boat and sail to a more secluded spot. I went on an awesome snorkeling trip off the coast of Sihanoukville, where I spent the day on an island enjoying a delicious seafood BBQ. I don’t know if we were the only people there, but it definitely felt like it!
